Tristan looked over to his other two comrades, Alex and Joseph. He was the designated leader of the group as assigned by Alec, who sent them off in an attempt to find something that possibly lay on the islands. Apparently, Alec came upon a hint that there was something vital on the islands that would help in their battle against the evil Seuss. Whether it was true or not is another story, but Tristan offered himself up to go check it out. "So... You guys ready?" He said nonchalantly. Ahead of them was a ferry, and a big one at that. It was the only way they could find to the island. No other boats were at the piers, strangely, and it was best not to waste anymore time looking for alternate routes. Although, rolling along in a giant craft likely wasn't best, either, but they had little choice if they were going to get to the islands. He wondered if they'd be able to even drive the thing, and he hoped that would be their only problem. | Tristan Level: 5 Class: Hunter Subclass: Skater Element: Earth HP: 225/225 SP: 150/150 Status: Fine |

"Sure thing 'chief'" Joseph's gaze was unwavering and fixed upon Tristan; he smiled. "Which one of us is qualified to captain this type of vessel anyways? I suppose maybe it could just pilot itself there, eh?"

Alex scratched the back of his neck. Once again, he needed a haircut...The air felt good here, though, and he looked towards the water as he spoke.
"I can probably do it. Boats can be fun- just don't blame me if we crash into the pier on the other side...docking is harder than it looks."
He tapped the new wand at his hip- Alex was still getting used to it. He had found the old antenna after the events in the Slum Network, and it was much different than the one he had left, broken, at the feet of Vladmir.
"Let's just hope the keys are still there."

"Yes... I'm sure they keep the spare key right under the sun visor!" Rubbing his hand across his forehead Joseph felt a biting sense of irritation. "I hate to break it to you kiddos, but the odds of this thing being as simple to start as turning a key are almost negligible; but what the hell lets give it a shot."
Fiddling with the lighter in his pocket Joseph calmed himself slightly; even if they were just kids he'd need their help. As much as he hated to say it.

"Well, we'll only see if we try. There's not really a better way over there, and I'm not very fond of swimming." Tristan looked over at Alex. "I hope you're able to; that'd make things a lot easier." Tristan began to walk towards the ferry, expecting the other two to follow behind. This would not be easy, but it had to be done. The ferry lay before the group, with a thick fog surrounding the piers, creeping over the water and all around them. It would certainly make navigation difficult, as it had already impaired their efforts to get to where they were now. Night time had quickly found its way to them, which was odd due to the fact that they had left in the morning and it hadn't felt like it had taken that long to get there. | Tristan Level: 5 Class: Hunter Subclass: Skater Element: Earth HP: 225/225 SP: 150/150 Status: Fine |

Hesitating slightly and letting out a sigh. "Alright, let's get this show on the road." Joseph reluctantly followed along hands shoved in his pockets. He was starting to have some misgivings about this whole expedition; but he kept going. Worst comes to worst he would let the other two die and leave. After-all there was always a way out.

Alex stared curiously at Joseph. The man had come out of nowhere to join the two boys, and Alex wasn't entirely sure of his motivations for accompanying two strangers. He shrugged the feeling off, though, and walked up to the ferry.
To his dismay, the wood railings seemed to be rotting away, and several of the floor planks were broken. He could see the water through the holes.
"Tristan...this doesn't seem safe at all. A few good waves would probably tear the ferry apart..."

"Hmm... Perhaps so, but they would have to be very large waves." Tristan seemed unperturbed and continued forward. Once inside, he surveyed the ferry. The damage was fairly negligible. "This should work. So long as we don't experience any tsunamis, that is; but I don't think we'll be that unlucky." Tristan led the group up the stairs toward the cabin. Inside, the place looked surprisingly intact. Tristan flipped a few switches and various bits of machinery turned on. "Well, it looks functional to me." Among the devices seemed to be a digital map. This will certainly come in handy... he thought as he touched the display, wiping off some grime and dust. "We may need a bit of your magic, Alex, but I think we are good to go." | Tristan Level: 5 Class: Hunter Subclass: Skater Element: Earth HP: 225/225 SP: 150/150 Status: Fine |

"Fine by me." Alex grinned.
"I've always wanted to do this..."
Closing his eyes, Alex concentrated on the mixture of mechanics and electrical equipment, using his affinity with electricity to generate and modulate current. The lights came up around them and the air hummed with static electricity.
Without opening his eyes, Alex walked over to the control area and took the helm. He shifted the boat into reverse, his symbiosis with the machinery enough to tell him what level did what. As the ferry began to move, Alex concentrated on the water around them, using his affinity with nature to ask for calm waves and easy waters.
As the boat moved away from the dock and turned in the general direction of the islands, Alex opened his eyes.
"Tristan, can you navigate for me? Which way should I go?"
The lights flickered as Alex lost his concentration briefly, and he turned his attention back to the boat, closing his eyes.
"Maybe someone else should steer..."

"Neat trick." Slightly impressed by Alex's abilities. "I suppose I can take the helm as long as you two tell me where to point this thing; but I'm not responsible for any damages that occur because of it."
Taking his hands out of his pockets he gently grasped the helm. He paused to think how hopelessly unqualified he was to do this, but relaxed. If some punks could do it, so could he.
"Either of you wouldn't happen to have a smoke would ya?"

"I'll be the one to navigate." Tristan positioned himself in front of the map display. "Well need to turn around and keep going in one direction for a while. It's a pretty easy path, from what I can tell... It'll just take some time to get there. I'd estimate...twenty minutes?" Alex yawned and ran his fingers along his new wand as he modulated currents, both electrical and hydrodynamic.
Travelling is much easier with fewer people...
Alex spoke in the general direction of Joseph.
"I don't smoke."
After a long pause....
"This is easier than I expected. Joseph- Tristan and I have already met. How did you come to be travelling with us? Are you joining our modest rebellion?"

"Of course no one has a smoke, you guys probably aren't even old enough to buy a pack." Joseph chuckled.
"How did I come about joining this rebellion? Long version or short version? I'll just stick with the long version." Pausing a moment, Joseph tried to think up an appropriate back story. His eyes staring off distantly. "I guess you could say it started during the war. I was just a little kid at the time when the bombs started falling. My mom had been a scientist with the US Army researching some new phenomenons just starting to surface in humans. She was killed in the first day. Incinerated instantly." He glanced at the ground momentarily. "After that my dad couldn't handle the grief. He mourned constantly, barely eating or sleeping. Becoming a shell of a man. He joined the EDF when they were at their most desperate. I think he joined knowing he would die... I think he lost the will to live... That was when I was 14; he died later that year. Ripped to shreds by some horrible Dr. Suess minion. I vowed then that I wouldn't quit until I had got some revenge and rest for my families plight. I spent the next 15 years struggling to survive. Killing when I had to, and fighting my way to a continued existence. By myself though; there isn't much I can do to beat them all. I figured that by joining up with some Militia forces I'd be able to actual do something constructive." He was in hysterics in his head, wondering if they'd actually believe this crap.
"But, enough of this depressing stuff. How close are we now?"

"Hmm... Kind of a typical story, so I suppose we are all in the same boat. More than literally, that is." Tristan said, keeping his eyes on the map. "We're getting closer, but we still have a ways off." And that was when a loud thud came from below them. It sounded loud and unpleasant, and what was more concerning was that it shook the boat.Note: If Alex uses his attention for something else, the boat will stop moving, and therefor the turns away from the island will remain the same. I would suggest getting to the island as soon as possible, though...Turns away from the island: 7 | Tristan Level: 5 Class: Hunter Subclass: Skater Element: Earth HP: 225/225 SP: 150/150 Status: Fine |
