Becoming a Puppet
Any character is susceptible to becoming a Puppet. This happens by hypnotization, which can be done by a number of Seussical beings. Once hypnotization begins, the character has 5 turns to end the life of the one that has them under their spell (that means -50 HP for a player character). If your opponent is still alive by the end of those 5 turns, your character then becomes a Puppet and is up for enemy use. You may still control your character, but you must intentionally take offensive actions against your former party members. If you're blatantly allowing your party to win, control will be handed over to the GM.
Ways of a Puppet[/u]
The life of a Puppet may or may not be difficult for you. Your character is devoid of emotion, personality, and memories of who they were. They're kind of like a blank slate that can't be written on. Or zombies, without the rotting flesh and moaning. They still retain all of their abilities, however (a wizard will stay a wizard, a tactician will remain a tactician); they're even amplified by the power of being a Puppet. They are also capable of lower thought processes, but nothing too intelligent.
Puppets are able to be controlled by any Seussite, and sometimes, the GM. The player is allowed to illustrate the actions however they like. Since that is the case, the Puppet is the only one allowed to post after whoever is controlling him or her (the GM will generally remind the party of this. If not, shame on the GM!). Lastly, the Puppet may only be controlled once per round. So, if someone has already taken control of the Puppet for a round, another cannot.
Recovering From the Puppet "Status"
When your character becomes a Puppet, the transformation isn't neccessarily permanent. It can be, but if you get sick of it, there is a way you can change him/her back into their former self. To do this, your character has to be killed. Once your character is dead, you must go on a quest to retrieve that person's soul, just as with regular dying. Once they are brought back to life in that way, they are back to their original state and no longer a Puppet. Remember, as with the normal death-and-revive, it must be an OFFICIAL quest.
There is an exception, however. A few special characters have the power to repeal hypnotization, but only when faced in battle. You can search these players out and attack them in an attempt to do this. That player must lower your health to 0, without killing you. They'll then use their special ability to turn you back to normal. As a note, they'll also have to heal you back into consciousness before you do die, otherwise the attempt will be pointless.
